Come Inside For Everything You Need to Know About Simplifying Wall Panelization!

Architect Services

As an architect your client has trusted you with guiding them through their process of designing and building their project. Having been entrusted with taking their project from a dream or simple idea to a fully-actuallized building plan, you owe it to them to clarify and eliminate as many suprises as possible during the construction phase.

We can take your project and nail down wall framing costs to the stud and piece of plywood, creating accurate lumber lists, whether the project is to be stick framed or panelized.

Advantages

  • Clarify your framing with the option to allow certain areas to be determined later by vendor/manufacturer specific rough openings and other framing requirements.
  • Help resolve potentially difficult framing areas before the bid process to reduce calls and RFI's (Requests for Information) required to produce a quality bid.
  • Work with your structural engineer counterpart to incorporate structural requirements into a document that leaves no doubt as to intent on a room-by-room and wall-by-wall basis (i.e. drawings for approval).

Lumber Yards

Getting left behind in the component craze?

Don't loose that lumber business! Sure, you might not be ready to sink $250,000 into truss equipment, but you can build panels for fraction of that cost! Whether you invest in the latest high-production equipment or still build on a plywood table, DESIGN is the key to success!

If you have a builder customer or a framer that is willing to work with you in giving panels a shot, Wall Panel Design.com can be the key to taking your studs from blueprints to Wall Panels with the least amount of risk.

Complete wall design on front end to Market specific species and material availability

Shear Wall Design
A picture is worth a thousand words. We can create a framing booklet detailing each wall in your structure, taking the guesswork and callbacks out of the wall framing equation on the front end.

The earlier you get us involved in the soft cycle time of the design process, the more we can reduce hard cycle time expenses at the framing stage.

We Clarify:

  • Stud depths and species, unlimited number per building.
  • Stud spacing, unlimited number per building.
  • Load Bearing opening framing such as double kings, multiple sills below windows, extra trimmers.
  • Extra studs for load transfer from concentrated gravity loads above in roof and floor framing systems.
  • Different unit types per floor and per building, e.g. Unit "A" on 1st of 3 floors may require double 2x4 studs 12" o/c whereas same unit on 2nd floor is single studs at 16" o.c.
  • Shear walls made crystal clear including:
  • stud spacing
  • special sheathing requirements (including both sides of wall panels)
  • Holddown Anchor locations precisely located based on manufacturers standoff locations from face of stud.
  • Above anchor info can be transferred to foundation CAD drawings for front end anchor bolt locations that coincide precisely with wall framing.
  • Coordination with commercially available shear products such as HardyFrames, etc.

Multifamily
Single Family Production
Single Family Custom

1. Multifamily projects can benefit tremendously from the efficiencies of panelization. Software capable of binding units in different building configurations and rotating and mirroring units create complete and scalable building design.

2. Single Family Production housing with its economic use of standard options to give homebuyers semi-custom realizations of their dreamhouse are natural candidates for panelization.

Advantages of Wall Panelization

A brief overview of the new panelization paradigm in the construction industry

  • Any framed project can be panelized, from 50 sqft overseas housing to 50,000 sqft. custom mansions for the rich and famous!
  • Control of design at front end rather than after lumber is dumped at the site, reduces scrap and rework. This process significantly enhances the efficient utilization of materials.
  • Coordination with floor and roof framing, including connections, load paths, and utilization of shear wall requirements.
  • Reduced "soft" Cycle Time at bid stage ofproject, by elimination of questions about framing requirements, material usage, layouts, etc.
  • Reduction of "hard" Cycle time in the field. When used with a complete component type framing system, dry-in times can be reduced 40-60% from stick framing.
  • Wall panels save time and money. Since your building gets erected faster, it is not subject to as much weather as a stick built structure. Every day that is gained means money saved in construction and carrying costs. Less waste, better quality control and easier scheduling are added benefits!
